On Aug. 25 Pete Golding said the right tackle job was still an open competition, that Tommy Kinsler IV had probably flashed the most consistently, and that conditioning was the open question against this tempo. That was eleven days ago. Since then: no depth chart, no injury report, no captains, no jersey numbers. HottyToddy previewed a Monday depth chart release on Aug. 31 and nobody has reported one ever came out. The tell: On3's beat writers were still publishing projected depth charts on Wednesday. You don't project a depth chart that exists. Kinsler is the Miami transfer, No. 61; Carius Curne is the LSU transfer, No. 57. Both of last year's starting tackles are in the NFL. The honest counterweight: Ole Miss plays Sunday, not Saturday, so every release slides a day — and Golding hasn't run a normal release calendar all season.

Then later: everybody has spent the week on Louisville's unknown quarterback. Isaac Brown is the one with the tape. Golding on Wednesday: “This kid is special. He's explosive on tape and really good in space.” Brown ran for 884 yards at 8.8 a carry last season, and 1,173 with 13 scores as a true freshman.
Against a run defense that finished 69th nationally at 4.2 yards a carry. The counterweight: that number belonged to a different front — Echoles, Boireau and Oatis are all in this one.
